CLEAN WATERSlocan Lake is at the top end of the Slocan watershed. This means that there are no towns or cities upstream of us to contaminate our water. The result is that we have a thirty-mile-long drinking reservoir. The water supply for New Denver, however, is from wells. As you can see from the aerial view on the home page, the townsite has been created by Carpenter Creek. The alluvial fan made by the creek is a mixture of rock, gravel and sand - the perfect material to filter any impurities that might make it to the location of the well. Water is pumped from a depth of 100 ft. resulting in pure, untreated water from the tap. Carpenter Creek is fed by two glaciers to the east of town.
