RETIREMENT This photo shows the only stairs in the downtown of New Denver, at the museum. The grocery store, post office, bakery, and all other businesses are accessible on flat ground. Many people live here without vehicles. There is bus service to Nelson and Nakusp twice weekly. The marina is on the other side of the creek from downtown, about a 10-minute walk on flat ground. The hospital is also about a 10-minute walk from downtown.

Real estate prices have increased here in the last few years, but are still quite reasonable. New Denver can never grow too much, due to the limitations of the townsite, so property taxes are expected to be fairly stable. If you seek a quiet place with lots of recreational opportunities, Come see New Denver. The weather here is not the hot-and-dry of valleys west of us. We enjoy a moderate climate here, with a balance of sun and rain that keeps our forests green and our water pure. Winters are moderated by Slocan Lake, and normal winters are characterized by freeze/thaw cycles lasting 1 or 2 weeks, with light to moderate snowfalls.
