Ferries

Three of the access points to New Denver invlolve free ferry rides. The Kootenay Lake Ferry from Balfour is a 40-minute cruise with incredible mountain views. In the summer ferries are every hour, with some line-ups usually, and in the off-season they run about every 2 hours.

The cable ferry at Fauquier runs heading east at quarter-to and quarter past-the-hour, and west on the hour and half-hour. Before about 6 am and after midnight the ferry runs on demand, so service is very quick.

The ferry between Revelstoke and Nakusp runs north at half-past the hour and south on the hour, from 5 am to midnight.
